Monique Mawulawe Agbedekpui won the Miss Ghana 2020 pageant!

On Friday, August 21 at the National Theater in Accra took place the final of the Miss Ghana 2020 pageant. In the fight for the crown of the most beautiful woman in Ghana entered sixteen finalists. The pageant was won by 23-year-old Monique Mawulawe Agbedekpui, who she will represent Ghana in the jubilee, 70th edition of the Miss World pageant, which was postponed to next year due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Miss Ghana is a pageant, which selects a Ghanaian representative for the most prestigious international Miss World pageant held since 1957. This year’s edition of the Miss Ghana pageant was scheduled for May, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers had to abandon the organization of the grand finale on this date. Ultimately, the pageant was completed a few months later, in August.

The winner of the Miss Ghana 2020 pageant was selected during the grand final, which took place on Friday, August 21 at the National Theater in Accra. The event was broadcast via the Internet. For the crown of the most beautiful Ghanaian competed sixteen finalists, who on the stage presented themselves in swimsuits and evening gowns typical of the local culture.

By the decision of the jurors, the Miss Ghana 2020 title was won by 23-year-old Monique Mawulawe Agbedekpui! Monique lives in Tesano, one of Accra’s districts in the Volta region. She graduated in fashion and design at the BlueCrest College in Accra. In her spare time, she likes to sew, dance, cook and listen to music.

During the finals, Monique won additional titles also – Beauty with a Purpose, Miss Congeniality and the award for the Most Disciplined participant!

The second place and the title of 1st Runner-Up in Miss Ghana was won by an 18-year-old student of administration and marketing – Isabella Eyram Agbo from the Volta region, who also received additional titles – Beauty with a Purpose, Top Model, Miss Fotogenic and the award for the Most Beautiful Skin.

On the other hand, the third place and the title of the 2nd Runner-Up in Miss Ghana 2020 was won by a 22-year-old graduate of food sciences – Annlisa Anangfio from the Greater Accra region, who also won additional titles – Beauty with a Purpose and Miss Eloquence.

TOP 5 was completed by Seelasi Penu (4th place) and Patience Fafali Gadodo (5th place) from the Volta region.

Monique was chosen to represent Ghana in the jubilee, 70th edition of the most prestigious pageant – Miss World. The anniversary of this oldest beauty contest was to be celebrated in this year, and the grouping and final of them were to be held in Thailand. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, members of the Miss World Organization headed by Julia Morley decided to move the pageant to next year! The exact date of the Miss World 2021 pageant is not known yet, but it will most likely be the second half of 2021.

In a year’s time we will find out whether the beautiful Monique will succeed in the Miss World 2021 pageant! Until then, winner of Miss Ghana 2020 can prepare for the international beauty pageant and perform her duties as the most beautiful woman in Ghana. Currently, she is involved in raising awareness about breast cancer and collecting donations for people in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
